Tuna Adobo Hits

Welcome to my first recipe post! I’ve got a good one to share with you today. I’ve never really tried Filipino food before but our neighbor always had heavenly smells wafting from their place. It turns out that it was their Filipino that made their home always so mouth-watering.

My lovely neighbor Aida shared a fairly simple recipe with me and I’m going to share this with you guys! It’s called Tuna Adobo. It’s a healthier variation of the pork adobo that they have in the Philippines.


  • A large can of tuna
  • Soy sauce
  • Vinegar
  • Diced garlic
  • Sliced onions
  • Black pepper

Cooking Method:

  • Preheat your pan.
  • Add a bit of olive oil and let it simmer.
  • Put in the diced onions and let it sweat for a few minutes.
  • Once onions are a tad translucent, add the garlic and toss together.
  • Add the tuna meat.
  • Pour in about 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. You can add more if you want it to have more sauce.
  • Add 4 tablespoons of vinegar
  • Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Add black pepper to taste.
  • Reduce the sauce (optional)
  • Serve with rice!

That’s it! I couldn’t believe how astoundingly simple it was. I honestly believed there was more to it than that. I love the variety of flavor that I get with this recipe. It’s salty, sweet, and savory all at the same time. The fact that it’s tuna means that my family and I are spared from any harmful fats. So not only is it friendly for my waist, it’s absolutely delicious!
