Keeping a home is never an easy task. It is time consuming and can require smart decision on my behalf. My goal is to always provide a clean and healthy living space for my family. As you may know, Sacramento can be stifling during the summers. My husband (the amazing man that he is) saw the benefits of installing a patio in our home. It’s a great way to stay cool and enjoy fresh air without having to go outside.
Today, I will share with you the two housekeeping tips that I absolutely swear by!
Tip 1: Clean up as you go
This is by far one of the rules that have saved me for piles of dishes or laundry. With two men in the house, it can get pretty grubby at times. So my rule is that whenever someone cooks, they need to clean up as they go.
It may seem like a lot of work, yes. How well can you focus on what’s on the stove when you have to wash the chopping board you’ve used? The tip there is to do one thing at a time. When I make pasta, I wash the knives, containers, and chopping board once the noodles are safely boiling on the stove.
While most people would take that time to relax, I use that time to clean up now so I don’t have to do it later.
Tip 2: Lemons make great air fresheners
This is actually a tip I learned from my beloved Tia Tisha. When I was younger, I always wondered why she would save the lemon husk or peelings after squeezing the juice from it. Instead of throwing it out, she would put them in a bowl by a window.
It didn’t occur to me until I was older that I loved how her home always smelled fresh. Turns out lemons were responsible for that. So I use that tip in my own home. Not only is it an effective air freshener, I keep my home free from harmful chemicals.
So there you have it. If you have any tips you’d love to share with me, I would love to hear them!…
